Mailbox sign materials

Most letterbox plates that are used in Switzerland are made of either aluminum or plastic. In rare cases, the letterbox plate is also made of other material, such as INOX, brass or even wood. The different letterbox plate materials require different engraving methods. A letterbox plate made of plastic can usually be produced and engraved more easily and inexpensively than an aluminum letterbox plate. One reason for this is that a plastic letterbox plate is usually easier to cut than an aluminum letterbox plate. Another reason is that the milling cutters or burins that are used for the engraving are less stressed when engraving a plastic letterbox plate and thus remain sharp for much longer and have to be sharpened or replaced less often.

Aluminum letterbox plate

A letterbox plate that is made of aluminum is usually made of either bare, silvery aluminum or black anodized aluminum. There are letterbox plate that are made from simple aluminum strips and those that are made from sometimes complicated aluminum. The shape of an aluminum letterbox plate is usually determined by the bracket. Depending on what type of mailbox sign you have, you will need a corresponding letterbox plate.

Plastic mailbox sign

Many letterbox signs are made of plastic. Compared to aluminum, a plastic letterbox sign offers many advantages but hardly any disadvantages. The plastics we use for our letterbox signs are UV-resistant, wind and weatherproof. A plastic letterbox sign is usually available in silver, black or white. Theoretically, a plastic letterbox sign can also be made from a differently colored plastic. Steel mailbox sign

If you would like a letterbox plate made of steel, please contact our customer service, we will be happy to discuss the options with you. There is a letterbox plate, which is also available in stainless steel as standard, but a letterbox plate is usually made of aluminum or plastic. A letterbox sign made of steel is rather rare, but also possible on request.
